| libxml2 before 2.7.8, as used in Google Chrome before 7.0.517.44, Apple Safari 5.0.2 and earlier, and other products, reads from invalid memory locations during processing of malformed XPath expressions, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted XML document. | |||||
| CVE-2012-2871 | 3 Apple, Google, Xmlsoft | 3 Iphone Os, Chrome, Libxml2 | 2025-04-11 | 6.8 MEDIUM | N/A |
| libxml2 2.9.0-rc1 and earlier, as used in Google Chrome before 21.0.1180.89, does not properly support a cast of an unspecified variable during handling of XSL transforms, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unknown other impact via a crafted document, related to the _xmlNs data structure in include/libxml/tree.h. | |||||
| CVE-2011-1944 | 1 Xmlsoft | 2 Libxml, Libxml2 | 2025-04-11 | 9.3 HIGH | N/A |
| Integer overflow in xpath.c in libxml2 2.6.x through 2.6.32 and 2.7.x through 2.7.8, and libxml 1.8.16 and earlier, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted XML file that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow when adding a new namespace node, related to handling of XPath expressions. | |||||
| CVE-2012-0841 | 2 Apple, Xmlsoft | 2 Iphone Os, Libxml2 | 2025-04-11 | 5.0 MEDIUM | N/A |
| libxml2 before 2.8.0 computes hash values without restricting the ability to trigger hash collisions predictably, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via crafted XML data. | |||||
| CVE-2013-0338 | 3 Canonical, Opensuse, Xmlsoft | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Opensuse, Libxml2 | 2025-04-11 | 4.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
| libxml2 2.9.0 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU and memory consumption) via an XML file containing an entity declaration with long replacement text and many references to this entity, aka "internal entity expansion" with linear complexity. | |||||
| CVE-2009-2414 | 1 Xmlsoft | 2 Libxml, Libxml2 | 2025-04-09 | 4.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
| Stack consumption vulnerability in libxml2 2.5.10, 2.6.16, 2.6.26, 2.6.27, and 2.6.32, and libxml 1.8.17, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a large depth of element declarations in a DTD, related to a function recursion, as demonstrated by the Codenomicon XML fuzzing framework. | |||||
| CVE-2008-4409 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2025-04-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | N/A |
| libxml2 2.7.0 and 2.7.1 does not properly handle "predefined entities definitions" in entities, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption and application crash), as demonstrated by use of xmllint on a certain XML document, a different vulnerability than CVE-2003-1564 and CVE-2008-3281. | |||||
| CVE-2008-3529 | 4 Apple, Canonical, Debian and 1 more | 6 Iphone Os, Mac Os X, Safari and 3 more | 2025-04-09 | 10.0 HIGH | N/A |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in the xmlParseAttValueComplex function in parser.c in libxml2 before 2.7.0 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or execute arbitrary code via a long XML entity name. | |||||
| CVE-2008-3281 | 7 Apple, Canonical, Debian and 4 more | 11 Iphone Os, Safari, Ubuntu Linux and 8 more | 2025-04-09 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| libxml2 2.6.32 and earlier does not properly detect recursion during entity expansion in an attribute value, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a crafted XML document. | |||||

| CVE-2025-27113 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2025-03-07 | N/A | 2.9 LOW |
| libxml2 before 2.12.10 and 2.13.x before 2.13.6 has a NULL pointer dereference in xmlPatMatch in pattern.c. | |||||
| CVE-2023-29469 | 2 Debian, Xmlsoft | 2 Debian Linux, Libxml2 | 2025-02-04 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| An issue was discovered in libxml2 before 2.10.4. When hashing empty dict strings in a crafted XML document, xmlDictComputeFastKey in dict.c can produce non-deterministic values, leading to various logic and memory errors, such as a double free. This behavior occurs because there is an attempt to use the first byte of an empty string, and any value is possible (not solely the '\0' value). | |||||
| CVE-2023-45322 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2024-11-21 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| libxml2 through 2.11.5 has a use-after-free that can only occur after a certain memory allocation fails. This occurs in xmlUnlinkNode in tree.c. NOTE: the vendor's position is "I don't think these issues are critical enough to warrant a CVE ID ... because an attacker typically can't control when memory allocations fail." | |||||
| CVE-2023-39615 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2024-11-21 | N/A | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| Xmlsoft Libxml2 v2.11.0 was discovered to contain an out-of-bounds read via the xmlSAX2StartElement() function at /libxml2/SAX2.c. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via supplying a crafted XML file. NOTE: the vendor's position is that the product does not support the legacy SAX1 interface with custom callbacks; there is a crash even without crafted input. | |||||
| CVE-2022-2309 | 3 Fedoraproject, Lxml, Xmlsoft | 3 Fedora, Lxml, Libxml2 | 2024-11-21 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| NULL Pointer Dereference allows attackers to cause a denial of service (or application crash). This only applies when lxml is used together with libxml2 2.9.10 through 2.9.14. libxml2 2.9.9 and earlier are not affected. It allows triggering crashes through forged input data, given a vulnerable code sequence in the application. The vulnerability is caused by the iterwalk function (also used by the canonicalize function). Such code shouldn't be in wide-spread use, given that parsing + iterwalk would usually be replaced with the more efficient iterparse function. However, an XML converter that serialises to C14N would also be vulnerable, for example, and there are legitimate use cases for this code sequence. If untrusted input is received (also remotely) and processed via iterwalk function, a crash can be triggered. | |||||
| CVE-2022-29824 | 5 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 2 more | 24 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 21 more | 2024-11-21 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| In libxml2 before 2.9.14, several buffer handling functions in buf.c (xmlBuf*) and tree.c (xmlBuffer*) don't check for integer overflows. This can result in out-of-bounds memory writes. Exploitation requires a victim to open a crafted, multi-gigabyte XML file. Other software using libxml2's buffer functions, for example libxslt through 1.1.35, is affected as well. | |||||
